Dr. Tom Van Cise DVM

It is with great regret that we announce the passing of the founder of Fudo Shin Tai Aikido, Dr. Thomas Van Cise on December 29, 2010.

Soke Van Cise was a student of Robert Simmons in Enmeikan Aikido and, when Soke Simmons retired, Tom was handed the reins as head instructor on January 1, 2001, and established Fudo Shin Tai Aikido, which emphasized the unity of mind, body and spirit in Aikido and as a philosophy.

Soke Van Cise was also locally renowned as a Veterinarian who was one of the few who treated small and exotic animals and used, not only standard veterinary practices, but also holistic medicine, including many exotic methods in his treatments.

The dojo was established in the mid-sixties by Robert and Elise Simmons and will continue under the leadership of Sensei Terry McCarthy in the traditions established by Soke Simmons and Soke Van Cise.
